I am so glad you are here.

Thank you for taking the first step in really digging into this often uncomfortable topic. I am here to help!

I am focusing this course on you! My goal is to give you the information you need today to help you protect your children. I hope to make you more aware and more comfortable talking about this topic with your family. Ideally, you will complete this course with a new sense of confidence and expert knowledge.

I wish that there was a class like this for parents way back in 1988. But, obviously - that was way before the internet and the #metoo movement. Our attitudes on many things have changed. Truth be told, I was a victim of a sexual assault in college. I didn't report the event to anyone except my mom.

I blamed myself for the events of that night. Most victims of sexual abuse or assault never report! It is the most under-reported crime. So, all of the statistics we discuss here are probably much higher.

I focused my energy on healing and helping others in this space. I became a Peer Educator at the Women's Clinic at my college and made the decision to take action. Helping others became my inspiration. I will share some very personal thoughts and emotions here with all of you. I am happy to answer your questions in the private Facebook group or via email. Please do not hesitate to reach out.

This is just me... trying to help and guide you on this tricky topic in an easy to understand, clear, and authentic way.

Please know, I am not a "therapist". I am a certified sexual abuse prevention specialist with a national organization called Darkness To Light. I was trained at D2L.org, and I teach their curriculum in the Stewards of Children Workshop. I am an author of three kids' books on difficult topics for kids. I created Simply Safe Kids on teachable to get my message out there to more parents like you!
